Many words describe a man’s journey. “Easy” is not one of them. The masculine journey is not a well-lit highway winding through majestic mountains or a fun dirt bike path cutting through scenic, piney woods. It’s more of a Herculean odyssey—a thousand-mile voyage shrouded in mystery, strewn with storm and temptation, and swarming with monsters, battles, pitfalls, perils, and rewards.
Greater still, most men embark on this voyage with little to no training, map, mentor, compass, or companion—not even an accurate description of the destination. That’s not a formula for adventure or success; it’s a suicide pact, an insurance policy guaranteeing future trouble and failure! But it does not have to be this way. God always had something different in mind.
From Genesis 1, He began mapping out every mile of “man’s marathon,” breaking manhood down into distinct stages, setting up guideposts, providing patterns for success and tools for every challenge.
